Considered by adults and children who have never had chickenpox, particularly before travel or living in close-contact settings abroad such as boarding schools.
The relevant exposure routes and level of risk depend on the disease, destination and activities planned. Your pharmacist will explain the risks that apply to your itinerary during consultation.

Individual assessment
Who may consider Chickenpox vaccination
- Adults who have never had chickenpox and are travelling or relocating abroad
- Those heading to boarding school, university halls or shared accommodation overseas
Suitability is assessed during consultation. Tell the pharmacist about allergies, pregnancy, health conditions, medicines and previous vaccinations.

A course of two injections, usually 4–8 weeks apart.

Course completed over 1–2 months.
Common side effects
- Soreness at the injection site
- Mild rash or temperature
